Tips + Tricks for Budding Entrepreneurs

This week is one for the artists! Although these principals I think can be applied to almost anything in life when you’re trying to find your own path.

I’ve been asked more times than I can remember to share some tips as to how to come up with your own style. So this week I am sharing 5 time saving ways to discover your own personal magical wonderful individual creative style:

  1. Allow yourself to explore what instinctively feels good. Be it enormous paint brushes, certain colours, odd-ball ideas… get out of the head space that says ‘I should’ and tap into ‘I feel like.’

  2. A lot of us waste time telling ourselves we don’t know what / how we want to create, but the truth usually is that we know exactly what we want to do, its just we’ve tuned out our inner-voice because what it is calling you to do feels too out of your comfort zone. LISTEN TO IT.

  3. In order to be able to tap into your inner-voice and instinctive creativity, get quiet before you set about creating. If you can go somewhere first that makes you feel alive. A quick walk in the woods or near water does it for me. Then spend 5 minutes literally sitting with your eyes closed focusing on your heart space before you do anything.

  4. Give yourself permission to create however you are drawn to do it. Sometimes the starting point is just the first stepping stone to get to the really good stuff, so don’t over think whether its a good idea just let the idea out and start following your own path of curiosity.

  5. Don’t think about what will make money. Shoe-horning your raw creativity into someone else’s experience of creative success in an attempt to make work that sells has the capacity to send you headlong into a creative block and questioning if you’re meant to be pursuing this career. Be you. If you feel led to create there is guaranteed magic inside you.

Give these ideas a try and let me know how you get on. The secret is letting go of what your mind says and allowing the creativity inside to flow out however it wants to, and practising getting better at doing that.

Thanks for reading and feel free to share if you try any of these ideas in the comments over on my Instagram post for this tips + tricks post.
