Tips + Tricks for Budding Entrepreneurs

This week I am sharing how to gain some control with the Instagram Algorithm. I have posted a video lesson on IGTV all about this, so here’s a breakdown of the teach:

The choices the algorithm makes as to what content to show you is informed by your past behaviour on the App. If you like, comment and dm an account you are inadvertently telling the App ‘I want to see more content from this account please’ and the algorithm is designed to show you more of their content. If you’re simply flicking through content and not interacting with it, you’re telling the App that you are not so interested in seeing that content.

This information can inform our interactions and help gain back some control as to what you are being shown, and more importantly if you are a business, getting more of your audience to see your content. Here are the takeaways:

  1. Engage with accounts whose content you want to see more of. Go visit their pages, give them some love and drop them a dm.

  2. Encourage your audience to leave you likes, comments and drop you a dm via CTAs. The ones who do this will be shown more of your content.

  3. If you don’t want to miss out on my free tips, mindset content or art head back to my account and drop my posts some love and send me a dm to tell me what you ate for dinner. (I’m always looking for new ideas!) That way the algorithm will know to not let you miss out. There are some huge giveaways coming very soon so you definitely don’t want to miss out on those.

Now how does that feel? You are now more empowered to control more of what you see on the App! Last tip - doing this consistently will tell the algorithm to keep showing you the accounts you love. Doing it once isn’t enough unfortunately, you have to make it a habit to truly gain back some control.
